Beaches for days!

Well Christmas is over and everything is back to normal. The cactus' are undecorated, lights are down and it's business as usual. Everyone goes out to the beach...well the sand dunes. They are absolutely amazing! The only thing missing is the water. RVers boondock with their ATVs by the thousands. I asked Stevie if I could just take my book and lawn chair there but he told me that I would just be in the way. Hey maybe I could set up a vodka lemonade stand...do you think I could get away with it?

Instructions to blog

This blog entry too long for one enty so start with "Ho Ho Ho Christmas first" then "More Christmas."

More Christmas....

Don't get me wrong, even though we're sitting on the Mexican border our canuck heritage begs that we have a real turkey Christmas dinner with all the fixins'. And no we didn't do it on the barbie, it was very traditional. And go figure...they don't have a boxing day. So no shopping...just looking! But all in all Steve and I wish you all had a great Chistmas!

Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas

It's a holly jolly Christmas in Winterhaven...but no snow...aww! Well here we are sitting outside in 22 C heat Christmas week with the prospect of no snow, but we don't mind seeing as though you all have enough for us down here. Christmas here next to the Mexican border is very different than it is beyond the 49th parallel, sunshine, tacos and marguaritas are the order of the day. Steve and I are spending Christmas with my parents, Dave and Irene. They're great! Dad has been teaching us new pool games (not the swimming pool) and Mom she's showing us all the best places to shop. Like we don't know how to do that. Mom thinks all we do is look, boy have we got her fooled! The rv park, like home is lit up like home..

Goodbye Palm Springs

Well all good things must come to an end, and so has the rain here....packing up and getting ready to head down to YUMA, AZ.  Been great here though, bought couple new cars, couple new end tables for the motorhome for outside use, will get well used.  Note the picture of snow coming WAY down the mountain, was causing a cold draft, almost had to put on a sweater.  Feeling sad for everybody back home in the snow and cold...enough of that..time to load up susan with the new address and make for the pavement, or concrete, or sand...time will tell, stay tuned.

December "ARK" Time

Well now we know why they have big dips in the middle of intersections, and bridges going over dried up river beds...been raining here only for twenty four hours...nothing compared to BC, however the ground absorbs nothing, everything is flooded here...we are starting to load up the Eagle with animals two by two..adding on pontoons to the sides of the Eagle and welding the jetta shut so its water tight and will float behind the Eagle, hence why they call them "dinghys'" down here. Figure if the wind is right and we have the awnings adjusted to catch the wind just right we should be able to sail into Yuma by the 22 of Dec....right on track!! GO AHEAD LET IT RAIN..WE ARE READY, WE ARE BC WESTCOASTIANS WE KNOW OF RAIN!! Ohh damn, i left the lawn chairs out..now their soaked..damn.

December AAWWWW!!

Well it been a great week, friends down for a week, spent some time with them, but not too much, didn't want them to feel smothered, hee hee. Was great to have them over for dinner on Saturday night, their final night, before going home. Did Bills favorite, not sure if the other guys favorite, lamb...with all the trimmins, roasted veggies, whipped garlic buttered potatoes, a nice simple au jus...and yes...wait for it!!......CREAMED CORN..yes, CREAMED CORN...love it. Wish all of you could have been here for it...But like all things in life, the evening came to an end and they flew back home to icecube land the following morning....was great to see them.

December SURPRISE!!

Truth be told, it's great down here, but we do miss our family and friends, think about you all often...enough of the mushy stuff. Another day of 23c and blue sky....spent it sight seeing and settled in at the motorhome for a good movie on the telly, gets dark down here early too ya know. Mid way through the movie we hear a funny noise, Robert and I both look at one another, turn down the tv, the noise is still happening in timed intervals, I looked at Robert again, ohh for christ sake, it's the phone!! it never rings, we forget what it sounds like....Hello, says i, hi it's Bill here, you'll never guess where we are...your right Bill i won't...Bill you sound different...."ohh we've been drinking at a bar in PALM SPRINGS!!" what a great suprise....met up with them in palm springs the following day, only little over and hour from here, had a great day with Gunnah, Billy, and Alllan...spent the evening at a great bar that had a christmas wreath auction...auction off approx 50 handmade, donated wreaths, raised over 7700 dollars for charity...was a great time...we we're amazed Bill had a couple beer, was still a little green from their night previous!! What a trooper. Gotta get ready for our move from Perris to Indio, California, a big drive, hee hee, just hour and half drive...gets us closer to Palm springs, will be hanging out with the Bills and Gunnahs...and of course our good friend Alllan..we're gonna take Alllan car shopping while he's down here!!...Well that's Bill and i's plan, Robert and Gunnah will be off sunning themselves somewheres.

December LA Again

We liked Hollywood so much after taking a day off for domestic things at the motor home, we went back to hollywood..Walked and walked, drove Mullholland drive, went out to end of Santa Monica Blvd and tried to dip Roberts head into the ocean, for a length of time, til he stopped kicking!!....JUST KIDDING! HE'S FINE, HE'S RIGHT HERE...Did some shopping for items for the daily use at the motorhome, etc etc....drove home...another great day...talked to friends of ours back home...feel very sad..all that fog back at home, low temperatures....rain, it's all so depressing..ohh well it's sunny here and 23c today....Hear that Gunnah...23C and sunny...you should be here, not there!

December, LA

Well we woke up bright and squirrly in the morning and headed out...programed into the bitch, Aneheim, Hollywood, Beverly hills, Etc....what a great day. Sunny, just the right temperature....And best of all Dec. 4, my birthday...I spent the better part of my day being told where to go by susan, that was enjoyable...walked the Stars on Hollywood Blvd, Drove through Beverly hills and drooled, Robert at the houses, me at the cars...unbelievable money down here. Drove around Aneheim, didn't go into Disney, may on the way home, i'm not big into twirly rides, getting enough driving the motorhome listening to susan!! Had b-day dinner at cute little Gourmet burger joint, Cafe Diablo, on hollywood blvd, didn't even spill burger sauce on my new shirt from Bobs parents!!!, good for me!! Was a late night getting home.. but best of all driving home, no fog, and susan got us home safely.

December, Robert!!!

I turn the jetta around, that's a feat, and drive back to the motorhome. Just as i get out of the car Robert suggests that he saw, "River Road"...THE ROAD WE NEED!!, back up on the hiway .25 miles....isn't he sweet, waits 'til we are near death to bring this up....bless his sweet polish little heart!...So as everybody has probably projected already...we go back....now..how does one turn a 40 foot motorhome around on a nine foot wide, rutty, dirt road?? Well it's a good thing i'm mr. super driver!! There is a short, but wide driveway i can use to my advantage just a little further up shit road...I tell Robert to go sit in the trunk of the jetta 'til i let him out, and proceed to turn the eagle around, no problemo!! out we drive, Robert ahead of me in the jetta, back to he hiway, down towards River road, down we go...ohh no..another skinny little road, but, a sign, welcome to palm view resort...thanking God!! we are here, and what a lovely place it is...got all set up..set out the chairs, made couple drinks, walked around the campground to get oriented, made it back to the motor home without any issues...sat in my chair and promptly fell asleep...ohh what a wonderfull life!

December, Still gettin there

I Grab susan by her 12 volt umbilical cord, rip it out of the dash, put my window down, reel back my arm to toss this dizzy miss guiding bitch out the window, Robert grabs susan from my grasp, suggests i disconnect the jetta and go for a drive down the road further and see where we are???...isn't that brilliant, spend money on susan, take her to see the country, and just when you need her, she lets "me" down, apparently Robert has a soft spot for her...I said i had a soft spot for here to, right out in the horse manure outside the drivers window!!..As usual, Robert wins, I disconnect the jetta, hop in it..start to drive, Start looking on the centre console for the 4wheel drive button, as this road is not good...over the knoll, i stop...there's no way my little jetta can go any further, just then a band of mexicans in a toyota sienna van go flying by me, crazy mexicans!!

December, Gettin there.

Susan guiding us along, only gots two miles to go, turn right, she says, we turn....i look ahead, "roads a little skinny Robert!?", just listen to Susan he says..."Robert the pavement has run out!!", just listen to Susan he says..."the road is getting skinnier, no pavement, very rutty", keep going only one mile to go, "turn right at ethan road", so says Susan, i turn right, go down a steep, nine foot wide, bumpy, rutty unpaved, hill. pppshhht,"air brake speak", for stopped for good..I says to Robert, "what the hell, what's susan got us into, a mexican reserve or what!!??"

December beginnings

Well we have left Foggy Isleton, California..driving for Perris, California, over the knolls, they call them mountains down here, we from BC know better!! Relying on Susan to get us there, she's such a good girl most times. Stayed at a Wal-mart for one night. Had to stop before it got dark...as fog everywhere, didn't want any poopy issues if you know what i mean. Bright sunshine, 21 c once we got over the hills, wonderfull, now just a little farther and we will be at our new campground..

Order of posts

READ CAPTAINS LOG FROM SUPPLEMENTAL "1" FIRST TO NUMBER "3"....POSTED IN TIME ORDER, NOT BY POSTING ORDER.

Captains log supplemental "3"

I have determined my decision in mind blowing time, i put my twitcher to the left position, i swing over hard...HOLLY SHIT....40,000LBS OF TOP HEAVY LOADED MOTORHOME MAKING AN EVASSIVE MANUEVER..THIS IS NOT A VW....CLEARLY. I narrowly miss the off ramp sign, clearly missed the cement embuckment by two inches, managed to avoid the brown tipped desert shrew crossing the hiway, didn't even get blasted by the big semi, made it to the next, and proper, exit...and best of all....ROBERT IS NO LONGER CONSTIPATED!!

Captains log supplemental "2"

So here we are careening down the hiway at 70mph, all 40,000 top heavy lbs of us, i'm awaiting Susie to direct me to the next turn, as i know its coming soon...all the sudden Susie commands me to turn right at next exit, i engage my twitcher and move over, all the while my keen eye scanning everything, when at the last minute i notice...MY GOD THIS IS NOT OUR EXIT!!, i quickly scan my options, looking to the left of me, looking to the back of me, looking up towards god for what i'm about to do.............................

Captains log Supplemental "1"

Warning: this blog may not be suitable for little people...end of warning!!

So, Robert was Constipated, operative word "was". We have this little navigator we like to call "Susan". Susan has been pretty good so far on this little trip of ours, however there have been a couple of moments that we feel Susan doesn't like men. We are driving a 40,000lbs top heavy loaded 58 foot long, total length with tow car, vehicle. Those of you out there that have driven big truck, five tons, ice trucks, dump trucks, Class "A" motorhomes, will appeciate this little story i'm about to tell about "Susan the navigator".
